The quality management standard ISO 9001:2015 developed by the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) is an internationally recognised standard, which instils confidence in the quality of products and services around the world and across different industries. In the DIN standard, minimum requirements are placed on the quality management system of an organisation. Fulfilling these requirements should ensure that the company's products, services, and processes are continuously improved, thereby increasing customer satisfaction.
For a quality management system to be implemented and certified according to ISO 9001:2015, the following requirements need to be fulfilled:
Once all the requirements are fulfilled, the certification process can begin. This consists of the following steps:
1. Preliminary audit (optional):
Before the official certification audit, auditors assess the implementation of the standard requirements.
2. Certification audit:
Auditors review the quality management system documentation and the company then demonstrates its practical application and effectiveness.
3. Award of certificate:
Following a successful certification process, the company receives their certificate. They are also entered in the online certificate database Certipedia.
4. Annual monitoring audit:
Auditors check whether the requirements of the standard continue to be met and the company processes are being continuously optimised.
5. Re-certification:
Before the three-year validity period lapses, another review takes place to extend certification.
